1. La Jolla Beaches

La Jolla California is famous for its fabulous sunny and 75-degree weather. So the first thing you need to do is head to the Pacific coastline for a day on a La Jolla beach! Lounge on the wide sandy shore of Marine Street Beach, surf the waves at Windansea Beach, or if it’s solitude you seek head to Black’s Beach. Whichever La Jolla beach you choose, plan to stay and watch the sun sink into the sea.

2. La Jolla Tide Pools

The West Coast has the best tide pools in the United States, filled with anemones, starfish, crabs, and so much more! You have to plan your adventure by checking the tide chart and visiting at low tide. Be sure to wear shoes with good grip, and be careful not to step on any living creature. Hospitals Reef is one great choice when it comes to La Jolla tide pools, with plenty of potholes to explore.

3. Sea Lions and Seals: La Jolla Cove

You’ll probably smell them before you see them, and hear them barking too! These exciting marine mammals can be found on and around many La Jolla beaches, but La Jolla Cove is an exceptional place to observe them. If you are visiting in the month of February, you are likely to see newborn pups! Respect these creatures and keep your distance, keeping them forever wild.

4. Legends Gallery Dr. Seuss Art

Was Dr. Seuss your favorite childhood author too? This legendary writer lived out his final years in lovely La Jolla. His amazing (and little known) works of art live on in a free gallery just a block away from the beach! Visit this off the beaten path spot to see original paintings, cartoons, and ‘taxidermy’ sculptures of all your old beloved characters.

5. A Meal at Georges on the Cove

Sightseeing and sunshine can sure work up an appetite. When it’s time for a meal out, dine al fresco at this iconic La Jolla restaurant with a view! Make sure to reserve a seat on the Ocean Terrace so that you can gaze out into the Pacific while feasting. Bonus points for a sunset time slot. There are so many scrumptious seafood options, but if you’re a land lover, George’s famous soup and house-made focaccia bread are a great choice.
