In this post, you will find delicious New Year’s Eve cocktail recipes with wine. As the Irish say: Sláinte! ‘to our health’…
This year, due to Covid-19, there will be bans all over the world for New Year’s Eve, we will be at our homes. But nothing can spoil the magic of New Year’s Eve! Let’s call an old friend home: Wine! After all, old friends are always good! ?
1. Sangria
Although sangria usually brings to mind warm summer evenings and Mediterranean beaches, trust us, sangria is one of the most fun, refreshing, and delicious New Year’s Eve cocktail recipes.
Firstly, let’s talk about the wine selection. When pairing food and wine, it is necessary to choose the wine carefully, the two must be in good harmony. Anyway, the wine you choose for this recipe doesn’t have to be complicated; because we will add many different flavors to our wine. You can use an existing wine at home or buy a budget-friendly wine. In addition, you can modify the recipe according to your taste. You can try different syrups, fruits, sodas, fruit juices. Or you can use white/rose wine instead of red wine. This will be a basic and classic recipe. Sangria is our art atelier! Be creative.
Ingredients
- 1 bottle of dry red wine
- 1 apple
- Half of a lemon
- 1 orange
- ½ cup of sugar
- ½ cup brandy (can also be vodka, orange liquor.)
- 1 cinnamon stick (optional)
- 200 ml soda
Chop the orange, apple, and lemon into cubes/half-moon shapes. At this point, if you care about appearance, be careful with thin slicing.? Then put the fruits in a large jug, add the whole wine, sugar, and your brandy/vodka. Finally, if you want, you can add soda/ freshly squeezed juice. Stir well and leave your jug to rest in the fridge. Sangria’s trick is to wait. Remember, your sangria will get better as you age. Serve with ice!
2. Rose Berry Bliss
If you find Sangria too complicated and are looking for a simpler yet sophisticated taste, this cocktail is for you! This cocktail highlights the fruity feature of rose wine with blueberry and ice-cold lemonade. It can be an excellent cocktail alternative for your New Year’s Eve. Moreover, it’s very easy to prepare!
Ingredients
- 1 bottle of rose wine
- 1 cup of blueberry
- 350-400 ml pink lemonade (you can also get it ready-made, I will explain the recipe below *)
- 200 ml lemon soda
*Dissolve ¼ glass of sugar in 2 glasses of water, add 1/4 glass of lemon juice to form base lemonade. Blend 4-5 strawberries and strain, add strawberry juice to your lemonade. Ready! (You don’t have to use all of your lemonade.
Wine, blueberries, pink lemonade, soda are added into a jug, all mixed. If you have time, I recommend keeping it in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours. Serve with ice!
3. The New York Sour: the most assertive of New Year’s Eve Cocktail Recipes
Good news for whiskey lovers! ? We are used to seeing whiskey in cocktails, but I highly recommend trying the combination of a strong red wine with whiskey.
Ingredients
(For 1 person)
- 2 ounces of whiskey
- 1 ounce of lemon juice
- 1 ounce of simple syrup (sugar + water)
- 1/2 ounce of dry red wine (You can choose strong wines such as Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Nebbiolo, Zinfandel…)
You can check out the red wine boldness chart here.
Add whiskey, lemon juice, and simple syrup to a cocktail shaker/jar. Mix by adding plenty of ice. Add this mixture to ice-filled glass, slowly add the wine. You can increase the amount of wine. Ready!
Bonus: Mulled wine!
Who can say no to a warming mulled wine on a cold winter evening? You can easily make mulled wine, which is the legend of the winter months, at your homes with a few tricks.

Ingredients
- 1 bottle of dry red wine
- 1.5 cups of water
- 3-4 whole cloves
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 100-150 grams of brown sugar
- ¼ of a lemon
- 1 orange
Put all the ingredients in the pot except wine. (Both the juice and the peels of lemon and orange are added). Boil it, then add the wine.
Important point: After adding the wine, turn down the heat. The boiling point of alcohol is lower than that of water, we do not want the alcohol to boil. After warming up, remove the pot from the heat. At this point, you can add some brandy (about 1/4 cup) to increase the alcohol level. Stir it gently and strain. Ready!
