Halkidiki is a peninsula and regional unit of Greece, by my definition heaven on Earth. Halkidiki, Greece is very famous for its pure water and beaches. In 2019 I’ve been there with my family. We went to Halkidiki from İstanbul by car. I recommend you to go by car because you can easily access the beaches. Now I am going to try to lead you according to my experience. So here are my top 5 best beaches in the Halkidiki peninsula. Before the weather gets colder I hope you will have a chance to see all of them. Keep traveling!
1. Ai Giannis Beach

Ai Giannis is a short name of Agios loans is the largest and the main beach of Paralia Sykia. You hardly can hear the name, they usually prefer this beach as Paralia Sykia. Ai Giannis has beautiful sand and shallow water which is perfect for a family with kids. This beach never gets crowded because it’s vast. So you can always find a free space or a free sunbed.
2. Sani Beach

Sani is a beach that has a blue flag for its pure blue water. Some trees provide a shadow area which you can relax and take a nap under nature. Sani is a well-organized resort with modern facilities and plenty of accommodation options. On the Day of the Environment, some environmental activities take place in summer, and festivals are often organized on the beach. And even some seminars to inform and raise awareness to keep the beach clean.
3. Elia Beach

Elia Beach is about a 2 km long coastline. A low cliff with pine trees is a solution to escape from the heat of the sun in the morning. There are many hotels and bars which have sunbeds and some fun organizations that you can enjoy. But if you’re a smooth person you can easily find your own space above the beach. Because of the pebble sea bottom, the water is incredibly clear.
4. Koviou Beach

Koviou is one of the most beautiful sandy beaches in Sithonia. With it’s pure and shallow water is ideal for a family with little kids. There are sunbeds and umbrellas which you can rent. But if you’re not a fan of sun-beds you have the rest of the beach to sit freely. Also if you’re interested in diving you should visit.
5. Portakali Beach

Well, I save the best for last. Portakali beach has another names which are Orange and Kavourotripes(meaning crab holes) Beach. There are many small beaches around the area. But at the main beach, there are sunbeds and umbrellas. The bar on the beach organizing them. Portakali Beach doesn’t have much sandy area buT the top of the limestone rocks can be the perfect spot for spending your day. If we come to the sea, this unique water has both light and dark blue as you can see from the image. If you get hungry you can easily find the beach bar and fueled yourselves. In my opinion, you can get your own food to the beach and enjoy yourself on the rocks while you’re sunbathing!
